True to the iconic picture, the “cowboy” is self-determined, ruggedly masculine, fiercely independent, and just plain tough. A well deserved reputation. But this is not the complete picture. There are equally compelling, though lesser known, stories of cattle-women, “cowkids,” “cowdogs,” and “cowhorses” who also work within this buckaroo tradition.
